Artist Andrei Diukov Is an Author of the New Abrau Art Collection Design

Abrau-Durso presents the anniversary 10th edition of the Abrau Art Collection created by modern artist Andrei Diukov — a prominent figure in both Russian and global art world. Created for a special project of Abrau-Durso, the art work of the master, whose artistic language combines various styles, symbolizes the achievements of the Russian art in the 20th century and presents the collectible sparkling wine Imperial Vintage Brut 2021 in magnum format.

The Abrau Art Collection dates back to 2015. Throughout its existence this artistic project has embraced many famous authors representing various directions and genres of art, such as Andrei Bartenev, Boris Messerer, Pavel Pepperstein, Erik Bulatov, Igor Shelkovsky, Natalia Nesterova, Aydan Salakhova, Mikhail Molochnikov and others. Every year another edition becomes a new word in the dialogue between art and winemaking.

Andrei Diukov is a representative of those artists of the 60s who preferred the freedom of expression rather than official art. His unique artistic viewpoint shaped under the influence of the rich stack of traditions of the 20th century. At various development stages, he was inspired by the Fauvists, Dadists and Constructivists, as well as the art works of German avant-gardist Kurt Schwitters who created his collages from materials at hand. Andrei Diukov liked this format as well. His art works are devoted to the existence of the objective reality and the expressive power of an item as a symbol and an object.  Andrei Diukov’s most famous works are grouped thematically into series “City”, “Village”, and “Space”, where he experiments with different materials and technologies.

Today his art works form part of the collections of the large Russian and foreign museums, such as the Tretyakov Gallery, State Russian Museum, Moscow Museum of Modern Art, and the Suermondt-Ludwig-Museum in Aachen, Germany. The artist’s works were at different times exhibited in New York, Los Angeles, Washington, London, Tokyo, Paris, Rome, Brussels, Stuttgart, Cologne, etc.

The design of the Abrau Art Collection created by Andrei Diukov features a unique style that combines the collage technique and drawing. He used his own artistic series devoted to our times, one of which is the famous series on the Worker and Kolkhoz Woman monument. This well-known piece of architecture, a symbol encompassing the achievements of the creative mind of the Russian artists of the 20th century, was presented by the author in the design of the Abrau Art Collection. The famous monument is opened up with a new side due to a play of bright and dimmed colors and textures. Digits 2025 in large type reflect the link between the epochs.

The project presents the collectible sparkling wine Imperial Brut Vintage 2021 made from Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Riesling grape varieties using the classic champagnization method and aged in the rock tunnels of Abrau-Durso for more than 3 years. This wine of exquisite golden hue with lustrous glitter and aroma with notes of clotted cream, apple jam and citrus features freshness and signature mineral afterglow of the aged classic sparkling wines of Abrau-Durso.

“Abrau-Durso offered me to create the design for their anniversary 10th Abrau Art Collection. In this new project I decided to use some works from my graphic series “Worker and Kolkhoz Woman”. The Europeans were taken aback with the image of the giants shining in the sun and demonstrating the symbols of free labor with confidence at the International Exhibition in Paris in 1937. My compositions were inspired figuratively by the shine of these sculptures. Here the purity of white is as festive and solemn as Vera Mukhina’s monument had in Paris. And champagne, being wine of victory, festival and a sparkling symbol of life, added matchless taste of the talented Abrau-Durso winemakers to this image”, Andrei Diukov comments on his work.

The collection co-authored with Andrei Diukov is released in a limited edition of 1,200 magnum bottles (1.5 liters) and exclusively available in the Abrau-Durso Wine Atelier boutiques. A bottle of wine in the Wine Atelier boutiques in Moscow costs RUB 9,900.
